Bio
Chase Cameron Utley. I'm sure some of you have heard about me. I play second base for the Philadelphia Phillies .. sometimes. If I'm not playing, you could find me sitting in the dugout waiting for Placido Polanco to pull a hamstring or I get to pinch hit and hit grandslams. Either one is fine with me.
I was born in Pasadena, California on December 12th, 1978 to David and Terrell Utley. I went to Long Beach Polytechnic High School where I was batting .525 by my senior year. I was named an All-American by Collegiate Baseball, Baseball America, the American Baseball Coaches Association and the National High School Baseball Coaches Association. I went to UCLA where I set their all-time freshman home run record with 15. I was selected in the second round by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1997 major league draft, but I was drafted in the 15th round of the 2000 draft. I made my major league debut on April 4th, 2003 and hit a grand slam in my first at bat. What can I say? I'm just that damn good.
Other than that, I'm just your average guy. I'm pretty shy at first, but I warm up once you get to know me.
